To blend your own potting mix for acid-loving plants, add equal parts sphagnum peat moss and pre-mixed potting mix. For seed starting support, blend 1 part peat moss to 1 part Miracle-Gro Perlite to create your own seed starting mix. Home gardeners can improve native soil in your garden beds or raised beds by blending 1 part peat moss and 1 part native soil. With all plants, refer to plant tags for specific sun or shade needs. Let mix dry to the touch between waterings, and don't allow plants to sit in drainage water. Remember to repot container plants annually to avoid compaction and replenish nutrients.
